Interdisciplinary materials science and technology research institute of the ETH Domain; its St. Gallen site houses the textile laboratories. The Laboratory for Biomimetic Membranes and Textiles develops smart fibres, textiles and membranes for body monitoring, drug delivery and tissue engineering, covering fibre spinning and functionalisation, medical textiles, protective clothing, wearables and clothing physiology. Work also includes sustainable textile finishing such as PFAS-free water-repellent coatings.
